Help
Short guide to the basics. More detail lives in the blog.
Create a container
Open the toolbar popup → New container → pick a name and color. Names must be unique (1–40 characters).
Assign the current tab
In the popup, choose a container. The tab reloads into that identity.
System pages like chrome:// cannot be isolated.
Always-open site rules
Check “always open this site in …” so matching navigations move into the target container. Useful for mail or work dashboards opened from bookmarks.
Pause rules
Temporarily pause all site rules (15 minutes, 1 hour, or until you resume) when a “Sign in with Google” style flow would otherwise loop. Isolation for tabs already in a container continues while rules are paused.
Clear a container
Clear cookies and stored site data for one container only. Other containers are untouched. Confirmation is required; this cannot be undone.
Known limits
- Some APIs (Shared Worker, Cache Storage, BroadcastChannel) may still share state across containers. We document this honestly instead of claiming 100% isolation everywhere.
- Complex SSO (Google, Microsoft, Apple login hosts) can be fragile—prefer pausing rules rather than binding those login domains permanently.
- Tabs in the same container share a session by design.
